TELETHERAPY

Telehealth video conferencing has become more popularized, but especially was found to be beneficial over the time of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.  It provided a seamless way to continue to work with clients despite the other challenges going on in the world.  So what did I learn from the transition of seeing individuals in person to video?  I found out that it works!

Let's talk about some of the benefits that have been recognized in this method of services...

  • Convenience:  reduced or no travel for client(s) to participate; flexibility to work around schedules more easily; it can be done from your smartphone or computer; traveling (within the state of Texas) you can still attend sessions; and/or not having to cancel when ill or in unfavorable driving conditions due to weather (if you choose to)

  • Comfort:  you have the familiarity of your space where the processing will be happening (typically your home) where you can have access to items that reinforce that sense of safe space (pet, favorite blanket, etc.); no risk of running into other people you know sitting in a waiting room, giving you more privacy for your care;  and you control the temperature of the room and the chair you sit in

  • Cost:  I pass on the savings to my clients.  By reducing my overhead costs of not maintaining an office of in-person services, I can keep my rates affordable.  To better understand this, check out my "Fees" page to learn how this too is a benefit of doing telehealth.

 What to expect...

Teletherapy (video) services with Nicholes Counseling is accomplished using a platform called Simplepractice.  Simplepractice is a HIPAA-compliant platform that allows us to have secure private video sessions as well as secure messaging. Most smartphones, tablets, desktops or laptops are compatible with this platform.

After scheduling your first appointment, I will set you up a client portal and send you the intake paperwork to be completed prior to our first session.  You will receive a reminder for your appointment the day before as well as the day of our meeting, giving you access to the secure link for your private session with me. All you need to do is click on that secure link at the time of your appointment and we will be in session!
